New Studio 6 Extended-Stay Hotel Opens in Katy, Texas

New Construction Studio 6 with latest brand design offers 63 suites for travelers on a budget in Houston area

DALLAS, May 27, 2020 – G6 Hospitality, owner, operator and franchisor of the Motel 6 and extended-stay Studio 6 brands, today announced the opening of a new construction Studio 6 in Katy, Texas—the first in the Houston area and second in Texas to feature the iconic brand’s new design, which was announced at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit last year. The all-suites hotel, owned and operated by Sharin Patel and Ripan Modi, features kitchenettes in every room and provides individuals and families an affordable and comfortable place to call home whether in town for a night or for a longer stay.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the success Studio 6 is sure to bring to the area,” said Mike McGeehan, Chief Development Officer, G6 Hospitality. “As Texas continues its phased approach to reopening, we are committed to serving those who need and continue to travel, and as Katy continues to grow in economic importance in the greater Houston area, we are glad to celebrate our 38th opening of the year with this property.”

The hotel is located at 1332 Katy Fort Bend Rd. in Katy, Texas, and features the latest Motel 6 and Studio 6 design that has begun to roll out in select locations throughout the U.S. This prototype includes modern design elements, such as new sleek wood-effect flooring and a bold color scheme. The property has 63 guest suites, all of which include a full kitchenette with a coffee maker, utensils and cutlery, as well as a mini-fridge, stovetop and microwave, ideal for extended-stay guests. There are also self-use coin laundry units on site, as well as free WiFi throughout the property. Four-legged family members are also welcome as the property is pet friendly.

“Katy is a vibrant town and popular destination for business and tourism, and we are excited to partner with G6 Hospitality to bring more affordable lodging options to the area,” said Vaishali Modi, part owner and General Manager of the property. “We chose to open a Studio 6 because of the brand’s longstanding commitment to leaving the light on for guests, which has been of even greater need for those required to continue travel during these times. Whether guests are looking to stay for an extended period or just a night or two, our goal is to make traveling affordable and accessible for all.”

Motel 6 recently announced “Clean@6”, a comprehensive initiative designed to ensure that guests feel confident when staying at any of the brands’ nearly 1,400 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Since the onset of the global health crisis, the company has partnered with medical experts and its franchise owners to adopt a thoughtful and proactive approach to serve guests and protect against the spread of viruses. The approach includes enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols, as well as social distancing in all common areas. For more information, visit
