This month, G6 Hospitality will launch a new version of its best-in-class training, “The Room Next Door,” a comprehensive program the company developed to help hotel teams identify the signs of human trafficking in the lodging industry. 84% will travel for holidays, according to new data from Motel 6

 

DALLAS, NOVEMBER 1, 2023 – This festive season is sure to be a big one, as new data from leading economy lodging brand Motel 6 reveals that Americans who are celebrating a winter holiday are planning to enjoy an average of 10 or more gatherings this year.

 

In its sixth annual holiday travel survey, Motel 6 heard from over 2,000 respondents who celebrate a winter holiday and found that this flurry of festivities is expected to lead to significant travel. Eighty-four percent of respondents plan to travel to at least one gathering, and of those, over half (52%) expect to take more trips than last year.

 

Travel Trends Fur the Whole Family

This holiday season, 85% say the joy of spending time with friends and family outweighs the challenges of travel. When it comes to lodging, two-thirds (65%) of respondents traveling plan to stay at a hotel, an increase of nearly 20% since last year (SWNS 2022). And they’re bringing furry family members with them. Three out of five (60%) respondents note that pets will be joining their holiday journeys, up from 22% in 2022 (SWNS 2022).

 

Gathering once just isn’t enough – respondents plan to celebrate some holidays multiple times, bringing the average number of holiday gatherings per person to more than 10.

 

Family Time Important, but so is Moderation

The winter season continues to be a time to come together with loved ones, with two-thirds (66%) of respondents noting a preference for a traditional holiday celebration with family, while only 20% opt to take a solo trip. Still, Americans agree that the excitement of family gatherings can cause social batteries to run down quickly. Over half (53%) of respondents look forward to alone time four hours into a holiday, while nearly one in five (19%) say it takes just one to two hours for them to start looking forward to alone time.

DALLAS (April 20, 2023) – As temperatures begin to rise, travelers are getting the urge to explore, and new research shows they’re acting on that spur-of-the-moment travel bug. Recent data from leading economy lodging brands, Motel 6 and Studio 6, reveals that two out of three (67%) Americans with travel plans this year say that the best trips are spontaneous and decided on a whim.

The study, which surveyed over 2,000 Americans who plan to travel this year also found that almost three-quarters (73%) would be willing to visit a surprise destination.

When asked about companions, more than three in four (78%) travelers prefer to journey with other people, while almost one in three (28%) are planning to explore with pets.

Off-Season & Longer Trips
With impromptu trips on the rise, more than two in five (44%) vacationers admit they are switching up their travel experiences this year. Most notably, the typical “travel season” may be a thing of the past, with almost half (47%) indicating that they are just as likely to get away during the off-season or weekdays as opposed to peak times like holidays and weekends.

Another one in three (32%) are indulging in their wanderlust by taking longer vacations than ever before. For those longer trips, vacationers needing a home-away-from-home can rest easy with an extended stay lodging option like Studio 6, where rooms come well-equipped with a full kitchenette and on-site laundry.

DALLAS (Jan. 12, 2023) – G6 Hospitality LLC, the parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands in the U.S. and Canada,, today announced that Julie Arrowsmith, President and Chief Financial Officer of G6, has been appointed President and Interim Chief Executive Officer. Rob Palleschi will step down as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, effective today, as he transitions to the position of Chief Executive Officer of American Campus Communities, the nation’s premier student housing manager, owner and developer.

Ms. Arrowsmith has served in various leadership positions across the G6 organization over her 28-year career. As President and CFO, she has been responsible for all finance and revenue-driving efforts, including the oversight of the revenue management, sales and e-commerce departments.

Ms. Arrowsmith has held various leadership roles with increasing responsibility since joining the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands in 1995. Prior to joining G6, Ms. Arrowsmith worked in the audit team at Deloitte. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University where she received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and subsequently earned her CPA license.

Economy lodging brand will fund transportation for 200+ children in Midwest to hit the slopes

DALLAS (Nov. 29, 2022) – For a second year in a row, Motel 6 is working to make winter sports more accessible to children and individuals across the U.S. through two partnerships that aim to ease the financial burdens of skiing and snowboarding.

Through its partnership with the Share Winter Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the lives, health and fitness of children through winter sports, Motel 6 is funding the transportation to and from ski resorts for over 200 children from six Midwest-based organizations: Corbeau Ski Club, Pocono Family YMCA, Positive Altitudes, Boys and Girls Club of the Wausau Area Inc., BGC Oshkosh and Boardslide Mission.
